Sarah also collected baby items for the Wayne County Shelter with the reigning Tri-County Elite Ambassador.

Sarah Hoyer is a 19 year old sophomore honor student at Thomas Nelson Community College, majoring in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism.
An active participant in community service, Sarah has founded "Teens Against Violence", "Sarah's Bears", "Hope for Reading", and is the state chair for 'A Case 4 Kids' & 'Kids Day of Caring'. She travels across Virginia promoting Volunteerism amd getting to know your community. Sarah believes that everyone can make a difference in their community, regardless of their age.
In addition to participating in pageants, Sarah is also a model and actress and can be seen in numerous commercials, print work and most recently as a travel agent in 'Daring Capers', with New Dominion Films.
"Participating in pageants have given me the opportunity to find my strengths, work on my weaknesses and become a better person. I have learned so much from other contestants and have made great friends! I have had the opportunity to meet people who have given me strength, encouragement and have opened doors to help me reach my goals.
Other activities which keep the new Miss U.S. States Teen 2001 busy: reading, babysitting, watching her god daughter, playing percussion, and working working with new pageant contestants.
Sarah is the daughter of Pete and Carol Hoyer of Newport News, Virginia and has one brother Chris , a senior Photography Major at VCU in Richmond.
